Artist Statement
At this point in my work, I am not censoring myself. I am not trying to be politically correct. I am responding to the world as I see it, and calling it out in its ignorance. I am pushing the limits of absurdity, in an effort to show the absurdity that exists in the world. As a gay man, I witness the ignorance and absurdity towards me and other queer individuals every day. I turn on the news and hear politicians referring to my lifestyle as “bondage,” and “personal enslavement.” I go online and I see people quoting bible passages in defense of their ignorance. One’s private life should not be encroached upon, but people continously refer to articles and passages they don’t understand, to make implications that are unfounded and false. My work forces these absurdities back out, producing a new and even more absurd interpretation.
